Sacral Chakra: Centre of Creativity

Updated: Jun 16, 2021

The Svadhisthana Chakra (the sacral chakra) is the second in the main chakra system. This is the centre of creativity, the sacred waters of emotion, passion, and sensuality. It is the portal of accessing our creative potential, our artistic gifts and talents, and our divine sexual energy. Our ability to tap into this sacred creative force depends on many things, from having a healthy root where we feel safe and secure within ourselves, to our sense of values and self worth, to our ability to connect to our emotions and channel them into something that gives us purpose. In the female body it is the cosmic womb of unmanifested potential, an infinite, bottomless ocean of unknown possibilities.

The sacral chakra is located in the lower abdominal region containing the sexual organs, and the womb. It is connected to the element of water which symbolizes the ebb and flow of emotional states, our sense of taste which is deeply connected to your sensuality, and the menstral cycle. It holds our ancestral wounds, especially for the maternal lineage and for those in female bodies, and holds tears of sadness that have not yet been shed. If you are experiencing a chapter in your life where you lack passion and inspiration, or connection to a healthy embodiment of sensuality, it is likely a calling to dive into your own vast ocean of emotions and possibilities to bring health, balance, and creativity back into your life.

Here are 3 things you can do to bring health and balance to your

Svadhisthana Chakra:

  1. Connect to the water element. Sit by a river or the ocean, cherish a class of water, or immerse yourself in a bath.

  2. Send loving, healing energy to your womb and sit with your cosmic mother wound.

  3. Dance. Let your body move without control or judgement. Let the energy flow!

When your sacral chakra is in a healthy state you will feel and listen to your emotions without getting caught up in the tide. They will give you inspiration and cultivate a passion like no other. You will feel passionate about life and feel called to create whatever it is that you are meant to create.
